The stadium was built in 1925, has a capacity of 80,018, and is one of the largest stadiums in Italy. It was originally constructed as the home of Atalanta BC. In 1990 it became the home ground for Internazionale and three years later it was selected as one of six stadiums to be used in the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
