The Lightning was able to take advantage of their power play opportunities, scoring three out of their four goals on the man advantage. Tyler Johnson led all scorers with two goals and one assist. His second goal was scored just as the first period was coming to an end, which proved to be a huge momentum swing for the team who had been playing from behind up until that point in the game. As for the Stars, they were only able to get on board once, during a shorthanded situation when Jamie Benn got his stick up high on Anton Khudobin after he had played the puck while it was still in his crease, drawing a penalty and giving them new life.

Tampa Bay faced off against their division rival, the Dallas Stars, at American Airlines Center. With Tyler Seguin’s absence from the Stars, the Lightning stars were able to shine and eventually beat their opponents.
